Imphal, June 20 2010:
Unknown miscreants shot dead an AO of District Horticulture Office, Bishnupur at his Oinam Awang Leikai residence at around 7 this evening. AO Nongthombam Sarat (55) was hit by a bullet on his face. He has been immediately rushed to RIMS and later referred to Shija Hospitals but succumbed to injuries. Police expressed suspicion that Sarat might be attacked in connection with monetary demand.

4 UTLA cadre killed
IMPHAL, March 22:
Troops of 5 Assam Rifles of the 57 Mountain Division gunned down four cadres of an unknown armed group called United Tribal Liberation Army in an en-counter near Longpi village of Nungba sub-division in Tamenglong district.
A PIB (DW) release said a fierce gun-battle ensued from around 2.30 am today during the course an operation conducted by the 5 AR troops. after cessation of the gun-fight the para-military troops recovered four bodies, one AK-47 rifle and two SLRs, the release detailed adding that UTLA leader James Singson is among the four killed.

2 PLA killed

The two suspected PLA cadres were killed in an encounter at Tollen Khunjao under Chandel district early morning today. The operation was carried out by combined team of 21 para commandos and 15 Assam Rifles said police. The slain cadres were not identified yet and had been kept at RIMS mortuary .

A combined team of Thoubal District commandos and 21 Assam Rifles gunned down one retired cadre of outlawed KYKL at Maramba Loukon in kakching. One 9mm pistol and a Hand grenade were recovered from the deceased police say. On the other hand family of the victim denied the charges that he was picked up and later shot dead .

Surrendered militant shot dead
IMPHAL, Fen 23:
Armed Miscreant gunned down a surrendered militant, a former hard core cadre of KYKL (MDF) this morning at the ground of the North East Institute of Science and Technology near Kendra Vidyalaya School under Lamphel police station, Imphal west district.
The victim was reported to be a surrendered KYKL (MDF) currently staying at the State Rehabilitation Centre Lamphel.
According to police sources on receiving reports of a person having being shot dead at the area around 10:30 am, a police team rushed to the spot and evacuated the victim at RIMS hospital however he succumbed to his injuries at the hospital.
The victim has been identified as one Thokchom Farista alias Uttam, 23, s/o Ingo of Ningthoukhong ward no. 11.
According to family sources, Uttam was a former member of KYKL who is among the groups who escaped from the KYKL and later formed KYKL(MDF).
Further the sources said that the victim along with four others laid down arms before the then GOC, Maj. Gen. Shakti Gurung at 3 AR post at Churachandpur district and later shifted to the state rehabilitation centre at Lamphel.
